This is contents detailed in Law on Education 2019, the XIVth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam passed on June 14, 2019 and takes effect on July 1, 2020. Thence, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary teachers are specified to possess at bachelor ’s, master’s and doctor’s levels education.
Thus, compared with the current regulations in Education Law 2005, the new Law has changed the qualification standards for primary and upper secondary teachers as follows:
-Primary teachers: Changing into “Possessing a bachelor’s diploma” instead of “Possessing professional secondary pedagogical school diplomas”
-Lower secondary teachers: Changing from “Possessing pedagogical college diplomas or university diplomas plus certificates of pedagogical training” to “Possessing a bachelor’s diploma in the teacher training discipline for a specific study subject or a bachelor’s diploma in an appropriate major and a certificate of further training in pedagogical skills”.
The current question is: Do teachers who don’t meet qualification standards need to continue to studying when Education Law 2019 takes effect?
This question will be answered by Government promulgates Decree detailed Education Law 2019 about the roadmap for improving qualification standards. Now, teachers could still rest assured to teach normally.
